Grady Diangana
Very impressed with this lad. Seems absolutely fearless and made a huge impact today.

Rice and Diangana; dare I say we have a proper academy again?

I couldn't agree with your comments more. What a pleasure to watch those two.

Re: Grady Diangana
Yep, and we have a couple more that should make the grade.

Seems the great work that Terry Westley has done is paying dividends, he could be the best thing that's happened to the club in a long, long time.

Re: Grady Diangana
Given his chance in the cup, and then in the league due to injuries, and has ripped arms off taking that chance with both hands.

I was at the Tottenham match when Yarmo went down, and as sad as that was, we were a bit better once the young lad came on. He has gone on to prove to me that I wasn't imagining that. I want Yarmo back fit again, ASAP, but based on what I've seen of them, I reckon the Ukranian will have his work cut out for him to get back in the first 11.

Hats off to Grady, MOTM, and yes, along with Rice and the willingness of Pellegrini to use youth, the Academy is possibly back on track. Maybe it always was, but having the right manager and mentality about the club is surely better for bringing through the youth.

Re: Grady Diangana
Made a couple of sloppy errors trying to be too clever early but liked the way he kept going and kept trying to beat a man.
The kid definitely has something. Just needs to keep his feet on the ground and keep learning

Re: Grady Diangana
I'd argue the academy has always been there, but we just haven't had a manager that plays them when they're ready.

Fat Sam would 100% be playing Antonio before him

Re: Grady Diangana
Was thinking that last season when Moyes would put Carroll AND Donkey Hugill on the bench instead of someone like Marcus Browne on the bench.
What conceivable match would require Carroll AND Hugill to come on?

Re: Grady Diangana
Tony Gale made the point that most academy products, all academies, tend to be passing players, which isn't all bad, but it's so refreshing to see a young player dribbling so well and so effectively, and still being able to pick a pass.

He's excelling where Samuelsen has been letting himself down, because both can dribble, but the norwegian is pathologically greedy and has problems releasing the ball. Diangana seems to have the ability to beat a few men, but realise when he can go no further, so will check back and get a pass away. Anderson needs to learn this too.

Re: Grady Diangana
I'd never heard of Diangana before he played against Macclesfield. All the hype was about Trott, Samualson etc.

Same with Rice. I'd never heard of him either and it was Oxford and Cullen that were to be the next big things.

It goes to show how important development is between the ages of 17 - 20,

As his confidence grew late on you could see his decision making and speed of thought, all academy boys have the athletic attributes....it's how quick the brain works to make it at the highest level

Agree, lovely player
The most impressive attributes for me is that he has the inate confidence to try things and best of all, when they fail, to try it again whilst working his self tirelessly for the team

Doesn't look injury-prone either.

Bloody hell, that late challenge after the assist today would've killed many.

Re: Grady Diangana
This gem would never have got a chance under Moyes.
Love how Pellegrini sets the standard, appreciating quality instead of surname
